Everyday women were the fabric of American history. Some of them were not well known outside their local communities, however, they were important to the total picture of the past.

Priscilla Mullins

Priscilla came to America on the Mayflower in 1620.  She survived  illness and starvation and helped found Plymouth Colony.  She participated in the first Thanksgiving.

Anna Mary Kersallen

Anna was an indentured servant in Philadelphia in the 1770's.  She experienced the uncertain times before and during the Revolutionary War.

 
Maria Reynolds

Maria observed George Washington's inauguration in 1789. She was a mistress of Alexander Hamilton.


Sarah Dodge Morris

Sarah and her family came to the new state of Missouri in the 1820's as missionaries to the Osage Indians. She experienced terror on the frontier.

Narcissa Whitman

Narcissa was the first white woman on the Oregon Trail and a missionary to the Cayuse Indians in Oregon Territory in the 1830's and 1840's.  She lived a tragic life.

Mary Lobb

Mary and her family settled in Jackson County, Missouri in the 1830's as pioneers.  She also experienced the Border Wars and the Civil War.


Rebecca Hawkins

Rebecca hired an assasin to kill her physically abusive husband in 1838 in Jackson County, Missouri.
